Music at Christ Church
.
Music plays a vital role in the life of Christ Church, both in worship and in the congregation’s outreach to the greater Tacoma community. Congregational song enriches our worship in hymns, psalms and responses. The Christ Church Choir enhances our liturgies with great music written from the 16th century to the present day. Our magnificent Brombaugh pipe organ helps lead congregational singing and is heard in organ masterworks at the opening and close of our worship and our Steinway grand piano lends its voice in both accompaniment and solos. Music comes to life in the superb acoustics of our sanctuary, a masterwork of sacred architecture.

Christ Church offers two concert series to the Tacoma community. Music at Christ Church features the Christ Church Choir in two evening liturgies, Advent Lessons and Carols and a Lenten Evensong; our Brombaugh pipe organ is played by renowned artists in full-length recitals; and each year we present a Tacoma-area choral group. Third Fridays at Noon offers monthly forty-minute recitals by organists, pianists and other instrumentalists.

The Brombaugh pipe organ is featured on the CD The Organ Sings!, music by David Dahl.

Several noted choral groups from the Seattle-Tacoma area, including Choral Arts and The Esoterics, choose Christ Church for performances because of its fine acoustics.
